With 5988kg of 3/4-ton heavy-duty trailering capacity, the Chevrolet Silverado HD ensures that you’ll never look longingly at another trailer again. Thick, strong rear axles equipped with the available MAX Trailering Pack, offer the broad shoulders necessary to carry and pull the biggest loads. An available integrated trailer brake controller helps manage unruly trailers. Two available towing packages, including the MAX Trailering Pack on 1500 models, which provides classleading extended, and crew-cab towing capacity, give you the gear to do some serious pulling. Tow/haul mode enhances performance while pulling a trailer or hauling heavy loads. Two available types of camper mirrors: Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist and Rearview Camera system.
The legendary lineup of Vortec engines offers improvements in power, torque and fuel efficiency. Enhanced by Active Fuel Management (AFM), the Gen IV Vortec engine pumps out power enough horsepower to tackle almost any obstacle in your path.
Hydraulic engine mounts (Vortec 5.3L), exhaust and induction tuning optimization, a sprayon liquid dampener, an underhood blanket, enhanced front and engine-side dash mats, a back-of-cab acoustic mat, reduced exterior gaps and enhanced aerodynamics all help to provide a quiet ride by isolating noise and vibration created by the powertrain, road and wind.
The Chevrolet Silverado’s advanced frame design has been engineered for supreme functionality. A thick, full-bored frame provides excellent torsional stiffness, while a hydroformed, fully boxed front portion features fewer welds for clean attachment points with better fit to frame. The Chevrolet Silverado offers a hydroformed, fully boxed front portion.
Hydroforming allows for fewer welds, which provides clean attachment points with better fit to frame. This smart combination provides immense overall frame strength and durability, plus improved road isolation and ride performance.
The Chevrolet Silverado features a coil-over-shock front suspension with cast-iron lower control arms. This design, along with a three-inch-wider front track, provides better on-center feel, less sensitivity to minor road irregularities and excellent handling and stability on nearly all road surfaces.
The front and rear axles in the Chevrolet Silverado have been engineered to provide smoother operation and improved durability. The rear cover is 50 percent thicker for improved strength, while stiffer mounting brackets better isolate road noise and vibration.
The Hydra-Matic four-speed/six-speed, electronically controlled automatic transmissions in the Chevrolet Silverado have an input speed sensor and stand-alone Transmission Control Modules that — based on driver input — optimize shift quality.
The end result is consistently smooth and quiet shifting sustained with Dexron VI transmission fluid that delivers more than twice the durability and stability of previous fluids.
When rear-wheel slippage is detected at lower speeds, the available GM segment-exclusive automatic locking rear differential allows additional traction on difficult and rough terrains. If one of the rear wheels has traction while the other does not, the locking rear axle automatically sends power to the wheel with grip to move the vehicle.
Quicker And Smoother Autotrac 4x4 System
Chevrolet Silverado features lighter transfer case assemblies with aluminum housings, while optimized lowrange gears and electronic shift controls with reliable contactless sensors help the available Autotrac active transfer case in 4x4 models better adjust to varying road conditions. The Autotrac system features four drive modes (2HI, AUTO/4WD, 4HI and 4LO), plus a neutral setting.
The available, lockable EZ Lift tailgate takes only about 7.3kg of effort to operate. This is roughly a40 percent reduction in the force required to lift the tailgate compared to the previous-generation Silverado. This makes for easy and quick access to tools and cargo in the pickup bed. And, as with all Silverado models, this tailgate can be easily removed when needed.
Total quality, total convenience, total capability.
The Chevrolet Silverado’s rear doors open up to 170 degrees – perfect for bulky loads. In the cargo box, there is extra space between the wheel housings. Taller, boxed rear frame rails are tapered towards the back for ride improvement, while streamlined rearview mirrors and reduced gaps enhance aerodynamics. If you’re cruising after sundown, you won’t be missed, thanks to dual filament tail lamps, which offer more illumination.
Full-drop Power Rear Windows
Full-drop power rear windows are standard in the Silverado Extended Cab LT1 models. These rear windows power down completely into the rear doors at the touch of a button.
Flat-blade Windshield Wipers
These wipers are contoured to provide more consistent pressure on the windshield for improved wipe quality and wind lift resistance.
Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist
The available Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist system features audio and visual signals to help alert you if an object is behind your vehicle. When traveling in reverse at low speeds, sensors in the rear bumper alert you when the pickup is approaching certain stationary objects, such as trailers, up to 2.4m behind the vehicle.
Through an exhaustive design process and extensive wind tunnel testing, the Silverado Silverado achieves impressive aerodynamics. This attention to even the smallest detail results in features such as a steeply raked windshield, a redesigned tailgate end cap, tighter gaps, optimized exterior mirror placements and flat windshield wipers that contribute to a streamlined shape.
DIC - Driver Information Center
The standard DIC (Driver Information Center) features an expanded array of alerts and a larger display window that shows two rows of characters. Push-button controls are located to the side of the gauge cluster for quick access to trip computer functions.
Being a true pickup, the Chevrolet Silverado has large controls and grab handles, so they’re easy to use whatever the conditions. Interior storage is plentiful with big cup holders, door-panel pockets, 6.1 liters of fold-down center armrest storage and over 9 liters of space in the dual glove boxes. A standard Driver Information Center displays data on numerous vehicle systems, whilst the standard temperature controls keep you cool on the hottest days.
The center armrest boasts 6.1L of conveniently accessible storage room. All models feature two glove boxes that combine for nine liters of additional storage space.
This Electronic Stability Control System helps you keep on the road and stay in control. The control module compares your steering input with the vehicle’s actual response and then, if necessary, makes small, individual applications to help you keep on track. Tire Pressure Monitor keeps a constant watch on the inflation level of the vehicle's four road tires. Hill Start Assist automatically engages to hold the truck stationary for about a second after the brake is released, giving you time to accelerate before the truck can roll backward. Trailer Sway Control senses trailer sway and automatically applies the truck’s brakes to help reduce sway and help maintain control.
Six Standard Air bags
Six air bags are standard in Silverado 1500: driver and right-frontal passenger dual-stage frontal air bags; head-curtain side-impact air bags for the front and rear outboard seating positions; and front seat-mounted air bags for thorax and pelvic protection. You’re also surrounded by a high-strength steel safety cage and strategically placed crush zones to help absorb and channel crash energy in case of a collision.
